PNO

Parents Night Out.

We spent our first night away from Elijah when we traveled to Richmond, VA to see one of our favorite artist, Jon Bellion, play a show at the famous venue, The National. Considering we blasted his music on the way to the hospital while I was in labor, it was somewhat fitting that we spent our first night away from Elijah due to his music.

After checking into our cute Air BnB, we headed to dinner at Vagabond restaurant where we enjoyed drinks, crab cakes and a chicken dinner before the show. Since we ate at the restaurant right beside the venue, we were able to have early access to the venue before doors opened. This allowed us to score some pretty awesome seats in the balcony so we didn't have to stand the entire time with the kiddos down below. We're old so this was a major score in our book.

We settled into our seats and enjoyed the scenery of the old theatre walls and the 1923 decorative ceiling as we waited for the show to start.

Jon Bellion didn't make his appearance until after 10 pm which KILLED us to wait that long considering we had been up since 5 am that morning with a cranky baby. BUT, once he stepped on the stage, it was all worth it. He put on an AMAZING show with lights, a tight-knit band and beats that had us on our feet the entire time he played. The crowd was filled with an electric energy that made the show that much better.

The show still had us talking the next day as we rode home to our favorite little guy. It was hard to be away from him, but it was an unforgettable date night that was well worth the travel.

The Life of Eli: Month 6

Half a year. We've had our boy for half a year. Some days it feels like he's been here forever while other days it feels like he just arrived. Either way, it's been a joy watching him grow the past 6 months. He is quite the goofball and we can't help but laugh when he squeals at the top of his lungs on a daily basis.

This month we hit a huge milestone as Elijah headed to daycare while Dad headed back to work. Luckily the transition went pretty smoothly with the exception of Elijah pretty much refusing to nap at school. He went from taking at least two 1-2 hour naps at home to two 30 minute naps a day (if we're lucky). Overall, he seems pretty happy playing and riding on the bye-bye buggy with his friends.

Elijah loves examining our hands which could substitute as a toy if it were up to him. He loves grabbing his feet and does it constantly if he's lying on his back. He loves hanging out in the excersaucer and pulling on any object in sight. Elijah has also set a record-high of blowouts this month. I had to re-stock his extra clothes bag on a weekly basis at school!

Highlights this month include:

Soaking up the last few days at home with Dad.

Visiting Mom at work.

Going to my first Mexican restaurant. Give me all the chips and salsa!
